Our 2025 conference will be based at Reynolds Hall in Ūawa Tolaga Bay from 12 to 14 March 2025.

Our theme for the conference is Taihuanui - A Bountiful Coastline

On Tuesday 11 March at 4pm, Jim Dahm, coastal scientist will hold a free seminar on key natural coastal processes and role of nature-based coastal restoration to help protect beaches and coastal communities.

During the conference, our presenters will cover a range of topics from the erosional impact of storms on the coast, the dynamic coast of Tairāwhiti and the importance of natural sand movement, how communities can make a difference to protecting our environment, threatened coastal plants and estuarine sedimentation and responses to sea level rise.  There will be several field trips to take part in, to see how local organisations are working to protect and restore their coastal ecosystems.

Workshops will cover coastal plant propagation, site preparation and assessing the impact of pest plants, a simple method of dune monitoring, raranga and katipo spiders. We will also hear from some of the coastcare groups from around the country.

The conference dinner, which is included in the registration fee, will be held on Thursday evening.

Further details of the programme and our speakers will be added to our conference website as they are confirmed.
